# MCP integration

The **MCP** integration lets AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor work in Favro for you. Ask your assistant in plain words to find a card, write a comment or set up a board, and it does it in Favro. Your assistant works as you: it can only see and do what you can in Favro, and only what you allow when you connect.

## Turn on the integration

The integration is on by default for new organizations. If it is off in yours:

1. Open the app menu and select **Administration**.
2. Go to **Apps and integrations**.
3. Find **MCP** and turn it on.

## Connect Claude

1. In Claude, open **Customize** in the sidebar and select **Connectors**.
2. Select **Add**, then **Add custom connector**.
3. Enter **Favro** as the name and `https://favro.com/mcp` as the URL, then select **Continue**.
4. Keep the detected options, **Sign in now** and **Use Claude's published identity**, and select **Add**.
5. Select **Connect** and sign in to Favro in the window that opens.

The same steps apply in Claude Desktop, including Claude Code in it.

Claude Code in the terminal: run `claude mcp add --transport http favro https://favro.com/mcp`, then run `/mcp` and choose **Authenticate**.

## Connect ChatGPT

Favro is coming to the ChatGPT app directory. Until then, ChatGPT can connect to Favro as a custom app in developer mode, with the address `https://favro.com/mcp`. See OpenAI's guide: [Developer mode and MCP apps in ChatGPT](https://help.openai.com/en/articles/12584461-developer-mode-apps-and-full-mcp-client-support-in-chatgpt).

## Connect Codex

1. In Codex, open **Settings** and select **Plugins**.
2. Select **Add**, then **Add MCP server**.
3. Enter **Favro** as the name, choose **Streamable HTTP**, enter `https://favro.com/mcp` as the URL and select **Save**.
4. Select **Authenticate** next to **favro** and sign in to Favro.

Codex in the terminal: run `codex mcp add favro --url https://favro.com/mcp`, then `codex mcp login favro`.

## Connect Cursor

Cursor signs in with a Favro API token.

1. In Favro, open **My profile**, select **API Tokens** and create a token. Copy it.
2. Turn your email address and the token into one encoded value. In a terminal, run:

   ```
   printf '%s' 'you@example.com:your-api-token' | base64
   ```

3. In Cursor, open **Cursor Settings**, select **Customize** in the sidebar, then **MCPs**, and select **New MCP Server**.
4. Add this to the file that opens, with the encoded value in place of the placeholder, and save:

   ```json
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "favro": {
         "url": "https://favro.com/mcp",
         "headers": {
           "Authorization": "Basic PASTE_THE_ENCODED_VALUE_HERE"
         }
       }
     }
   }
   ```

Favro is then listed under **MCPs** with its tools.

## Connect other assistants

Any assistant that supports MCP can connect. Add a remote MCP server with this address and sign in to Favro when asked:

```
https://favro.com/mcp
```

If your assistant cannot sign in with an account, use a Favro API token instead, as described for Cursor above.

## What your assistant can do

When you connect, Favro asks what your assistant may do:

* **Read Favro data**: see your cards, boards, collections, comments and members.
* **Search Favro data**: search your cards.
* **Write Favro data**: create, change and delete cards, boards and collections.

To change your choice later, disconnect Favro in your assistant and connect again.

In Cursor, a **Read only** API token lets your assistant read and search only. A normal token lets it do everything.
